The unique collaboration of healthcare and community enables the non-partisan Council to advocate for change with regard to today’s health issues. The Council’s ADVOCACY priorities are:
- Support our member organizations in advocacy efforts related to important community health issues
- Foster partnerships with community organizations to create policy and process change to improve community health.
- Rockford Regional Health Council has partnered with the 17th Judicial Circuit Affordable Care Act Committee to help develop a system for providing health care services (including behavioral health) to those within the justice system, as well as to help maintain their care upon release. The program’s ultimate goal is to reduce recidivism by ensuring that those needing services receive the help they need.
- The Council, in partnership with all local health systems and other community entities, has taken a leadership role in a community effort to reduce Childhood Obesity.
